The expert report has been completed as part of the investigation into the Grand Kartal Hotel fire tragedy in Bolu, which resulted in the loss of 78 lives.

According to information reported by Tolga Şardan from T24, personnel from the Bolu Municipality Fire Department and the defendant in the case, İrfan Acar, provided contradictory statements regarding the date they visited the hotel for inspection.

MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS STATED THE INSPECTION DID NOT TAKE PLACE

Acar stated that he conducted an inspection at the hotel and prepared a report on Saturday, December 28. However, senior municipal officials who gave statements to the court reported that such inspections are only conducted on working days and that this procedure did not take place on a Saturday.

Following the statements of his own superiors, İrfan Acar claimed that he had made a mistake regarding the date, arguing that he had conducted the inspection on December 27, 2024, using the municipal vehicle with license plate 14 GA 329, and that he had misremembered the date of December 28.

GPS RECORDS REVEALED THE TRUTH

Following the contradictory statements, Acar's lawyer, Onur Fırat Kaynun, requested that the GPS records of the municipal vehicle be submitted to the court and examined by an expert. The court accepted the request.

The GPS data provided to the court by the Bolu Municipality was delivered to the expert. As a result of the detailed examination, it was determined that the municipal vehicle never went to the Grand Kartal Hotel on December 27 or 28.

The expert report concluded that İrfan Acar had prepared the fire department inspection report without being present at the scene.
