Instruction from CHP: No member from another party should be elected to a vacant quota

The letter, which states that the membership of a municipal council member who resigns from the CHP in a specialized committee will terminate, notified that no member from another political party should be elected to the vacant CHP quota.

In the letter sent from the CHP Headquarters to the provincial chairmanships, attention was drawn to Article 21 of the Municipal Council Working Regulation.

The letter stated that if a member serving on a committee resigns from the political party they are affiliated with, their committee membership will also terminate, adding, "For a committee membership that has become vacant due to resignation, a new member must be elected from the same political party to complete the remainder of the term of office."

Emphasizing that if a municipal council member who resigns from the CHP loses their membership in a specialized committee, a member from another party should not be elected in their place, the letter stated that the new member must be selected from among the CHP municipal council members.

The letter, which requested that provincial and district chairmanships closely monitor the aforementioned committee member elections, instructed that if a member from another political party is elected to a vacant CHP quota in violation of the regulation, the necessary legal and administrative applications must be made without delay.
