Intensive operations against illegal betting and fraud: 67 thousand sites blocked

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that within the scope of the fight against online illegal betting, fraud, and cybercrimes, access to 67,493 websites has been blocked during 2,880 operations. In a post shared on social media, he emphasized that they are determined to fight against cybercrimes.

Yerlikaya stated, "A total of 2,880 operations were carried out against cybercrimes such as illegal betting, gambling, and fraud. During this process, money and assets worth 7 billion 519 million 155 thousand Turkish Liras were seized."

Noting that 453 operations were conducted against online illegal betting crimes between June 4, 2023, and September 25, 2024, Yerlikaya stated that 81 of these were planned and project-based. He expressed that as a result of these operations, 2,950 people were detained, 1,070 of whom were arrested, and judicial control was applied to 819. He added that access to 27,771 sites was blocked.

Explaining that 2,427 operations were carried out against online fraud and cybercrimes, Yerlikaya emphasized that 363 of these operations were planned. During this process, 6,585 people were detained, 3,311 were arrested, and judicial control decisions were issued for 1,206. Access to 39,722 websites was also blocked.

Minister Yerlikaya stated that young people must be protected against online illegal betting and gambling crimes, adding, "It is essential to continue this fight together."
