Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shares: 181 migrant smugglers caught, 62 arrested

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared information regarding migrant smuggling operations conducted in border regions. Yerlikaya announced that 181 smugglers were caught.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 181 migrant smuggling organizers were caught in operations conducted in border regions.

Sharing a video regarding the operations on his social media account, Yerlikaya provided the following information:

“In 117 operations conducted by our Gendarmerie units in our border regions, 181 migrant smuggling organizer suspects were caught! We will not give an opportunity to human traffickers who try to make our country a target for irregular migration by engaging in human smuggling. In 117 operations supported by UAVs, helicopters, and gyrocopters carried out by our Gendarmerie units across Turkey in our border regions over the last 5 days, 181 migrant smuggling organizers were caught. 62 of them were arrested. Judicial control decisions were issued for 14 of them. The proceedings for the others are ongoing. 4,758 irregular migrants were caught in the operations. Repatriation procedures to their countries have been initiated.”
