Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi's 'public order' warning regarding attacks: 'Perverted-minded individuals...'

In his statement to tv100, Çiftçi noted that the consecutive school attacks cannot be explained solely by security at the school gate, stating that the process must begin within the family. Pointing out that the influence of the digital world on children's mental development cannot be denied, Çiftçi expressed that social media regulation is essential.

Stating that "the issue is not just security at the school gate," Çiftçi indicated that the consecutive attacks point to a deeper problem affecting the mental worlds of children and young people. Çiftçi used the expressions, "The real issue is the climate of digital violence, social isolation, the weakening of family-school ties, and the inadequacy of early warning mechanisms."

'CANNOT BE SEEN MERELY AS A PUBLIC ORDER ISSUE'

Interior Minister Çiftçi pointed out that fear, anger, and violence content are amplified through algorithms on online platforms, and said that young people are being dragged into alienation instead of belonging in this environment. Çiftçi said, "Young people are becoming more prone to shutting themselves off instead of communicating, and to producing sudden and destructive reactions instead of solutions."

Emphasizing that school attacks cannot be seen merely as a public order issue, Çiftçi stated that the subject must also be addressed alongside topics such as the digital world order, youth mental health, and social solidarity.

'CHILDREN ARE BECOMING ROBOTIZED'

Stating that children can communicate with unidentified individuals in uncontrolled digital environments, Çiftçi said, "Our children, who spend hours in their rooms, can form toxic virtual relationships in the messaging modules of games. They practically become robotized by constantly carrying out the commands given during this process."

'PERVERTED-MINDED INDIVIDUALS ARE BEING HEROIZED'

Also expressing that the concept of a "hero" has undergone a shift in meaning for young people, Çiftçi stated, "We are detecting that individuals with a perverted mindset are being heroized in this dirty virtual world."

'SOCIAL MEDIA REGULATION IS ESSENTIAL'

Stating that children's internet usage areas should be narrowed in a controlled manner, Çiftçi said that social media regulation is an important necessity. Saying, "We cannot surrender to any understanding of content that encourages violence and normalizes crime," Çiftçi emphasized that everyone from digital platforms to the media sector must take responsibility.

'EVERYONE MUST FEEL THE RESPONSIBILITY THEY BEAR'

Mustafa Çiftçi emphasized that the responsibility regarding the content children are exposed to is not limited only to the family and school, saying, "Everyone from the series industry to the cinema world, from television broadcasters to digital platforms, from game producers to social media channels, must feel the responsibility of what they are carrying into the minds and spiritual worlds of our children." Drawing attention to the effect of content that encourages violence and normalizes crime on young people in particular, Çiftçi invited all content producers to act more sensitively and consciously.

'SOCIAL SOLIDARITY WILL BE REBUILT'

Continuing his statements, Çiftçi stated that the struggle cannot remain limited to security measures. Çiftçi said, "This process will begin in the family; the emotional bond established between parents and their children will be strengthened. The school and guidance system will support this bond, and social solidarity will be rebuilt."

Emphasizing that children should be raised not only with academic success but also with national and spiritual values, a sense of belonging, compassion, and conscience, Çiftçi drew attention to the importance of value-based education.

Stating that this process is not just an issue of today's security but of Turkey's future, Çiftçi emphasized that a total social struggle covering all areas from family to education, and from media to digital platforms, will be carried out.
