Interior Minister Yerlikaya shares figures on 'May 1'

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared figures regarding the May 1 demonstrations across Turkey via his social media account.

In a statement on his social media account, Yerlikaya said the following:

On May 1 Labor and Solidarity Day, 212 events were completed across 78 of our provinces with the participation of a total of 286 thousand 584 citizens. 

Within the scope of the events, a total of 409 individuals were taken into custody for violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations: 407 in Istanbul, 1 in Tokat, and 1 in Van.

Regarding the "Wreath Laying and Leaving Carnations at Kazancı Hill" event at Taksim Square, 13 events were held with the participation of 817 people organized by 13 labor unions.

A total of 122 thousand 777 of our heroic police officers served across our country to ensure that May 1 Labor and Solidarity Day passed in peace and security.

I sincerely thank all our security forces who performed their duties with great devotion and sacrifice.
