International Union of Muslim Scholars Responds Harshly to Israeli Attacks: "We Must Unite Against Genocide"

International Union of Muslim Scholars President Dr. Ali al-Qaradaghi issued a written statement regarding the airstrikes carried out by Israel on the south and east of Lebanon. Stating that these attacks are a blatant assault on people and their homes, al-Qaradaghi expressed that civilian casualties are unacceptable. According to data from the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, 182 people have lost their lives and 727 have been injured in the attacks carried out this morning.

Al-Qaradaghi said, "What is happening in Lebanon today is an attack against peace and human values. The killing of innocent civilians, including children and women, shows how brutal these actions are." He stated that Israel, under Netanyahu and his far-right government, is carrying out these attacks as part of an expansionist policy in regions such as Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon.

Arguing that "rejoicing over the targeting of the Lebanese or Palestinian people by Israel, regardless of the pretext, is contrary to Islam," al-Qaradaghi stated that it is not permissible to make distinctions based on sectarian or political disagreements. "When the enemy commits genocide against Muslims, it does not distinguish between them. The enemy views everyone who is not on its side as an adversary," he stated.

Al-Qaradaghi pointed out that Israel is carrying out these attacks in violation of international agreements and called on all Muslim governments to take action to stop these acts. "The Islamic and Arab world must do its part against Zionist attacks," he said.

Furthermore, inviting the Arab and Islamic world to hold an emergency summit to discuss these attacks, al-Qaradaghi said, "The Arab and Islamic world can take strategic steps such as halting the flow of oil and natural gas and boycotting Israel politically and economically." In this context, he emphasized that diplomatic relations should be reviewed.

While it was reported that Israeli warplanes bombed many regions of Lebanon in two separate attacks this morning, it was stated that the humanitarian situation in the region is deteriorating and calls for more aid and support are being made. Al-Qaradaghi invited all Muslims of the world to unite and raise their voices against these brutal attacks.
