Intoxicated individual climbs metro pole in Bursa claiming 'I have enemies': Transport halted, power cut

In the Yıldırım district of Bursa, an individual who climbed a pole on the metro line kept teams busy for approximately 2 hours. In the incident that occurred on Ankara Yolu Street in the Davutdede neighborhood, citizens who saw Mehmet A. climbing the metro pole after allegedly consuming alcohol reported the situation to the police.

Following the report, numerous police teams were dispatched to the area. While the electric current on the metro line was cut for safety reasons, traffic teams also took precautions in the vicinity. A section of the road was kept open to traffic in a controlled manner.

HE MOVED ALONG THE POLE UPON SEEING THE TEAMS

Teams initiated efforts to bring Mehmet A. down from where he was located. However, upon seeing the teams approaching him, the individual began to move along the pole to get away.

Remaining on the pole and wires for about 2 hours, Mehmet A. performed acrobatic movements from time to time. These actions by the individual also drew the attention of citizens gathered in the area.

CITIZENS HAD MIXED REACTIONS

Some of the citizens watching the individual on the pole applauded Mehmet A. However, some citizens who were inconvenienced by the suspension of metro transport reacted to the situation.

When the efforts to bring the individual down did not yield results, police negotiation teams were brought in. The police, who spoke with Mehmet A. for a long time, finally persuaded the individual to come down.

TAKEN TO THE POLICE STATION TO GIVE A STATEMENT

Mehmet A., who was brought down after spending approximately 2 hours on the pole, was handed over to medical teams. The individual, who was brought down to the applause of citizens in the area, underwent a health check.

Following the check, Mehmet A. was taken to the police station to give his statement. Transport on the metro line, which had been halted for safety reasons, resumed after the teams completed their work.
