Investigation had been launched into İmamoğlu's diploma: Istanbul University has the final word
Following allegations that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's university diploma was fake, the response provided by Istanbul University and complaints filed with CİMER have come to the fore. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation based on reports and a report from the Council of Higher Education. Ekrem İmamoğlu was invited to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan for his statement on February 26. Regarding a complaint filed 5 years ago, Istanbul University stated that İmamoğlu had fulfilled the application requirements and was enrolled.

In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the investigation was launched "within the scope of reports made regarding the forgery of his undergraduate diploma" and "upon the report containing findings regarding the forgery of the diploma" prepared by the Council of Higher Education.
Within the scope of the investigation, Ekrem İmamoğlu was invited to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan on February 26 to provide his statement.
COMPLAINT FILED 5 YEARS AGO
According to the report by Uğur Can Biçer from Oda TV, a complaint filed with CİMER 5 years ago regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma and the response provided by Istanbul University on the subject have emerged.
In the complaint filed with the Presidential Communication Center (CİMER) on February 15, 2020, it was claimed that Ekrem İmamoğlu transferred from Girne American University to Istanbul University in 1990, and it was requested that if the transfer was unfair, the "benefit in terms of public conscience" should be revoked.
Following the complaint filed with CİMER, the Istanbul University Rectorate Corporate Communication Coordination sent a letter to the Faculty of Business Administration Dean's Office requesting a response on the matter.
'HE FULFILLED THE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS'
Upon this, a response was received from the Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration Dean's Office on March 24, 2020.
Stating that the application made to CİMER was examined, it was expressed that Ekrem İmamoğlu, a graduate of the English Business Administration program, applied for the international (2nd year) lateral transfer quota announced in 1990, that his application was evaluated according to the relevant articles, and that he fulfilled the admission requirements and was therefore enrolled.
