Investigation launched into 'Don't let headquarters hear' footage in AKP

Footage of a party featuring AKP Ovacık Mayor Ahmet Şahin, District Chair Metin Akkaya, and several party officials in the Ovacık district of Karabük has sparked widespread reaction on social media. In the footage, which was reportedly filmed in a village room, individuals were seen drinking alcohol and being entertained by a traditional male dancer (köçek).

The footage, which was reportedly recorded during a village wedding in Ovacık, spread rapidly across social media platforms, and the individuals featured in the video became a subject of public debate. The footage also includes a moment where District Chair Metin Akkaya says, "Don't let headquarters hear about this."

PROVINCIAL PRESIDENCY ANNOUNCED DISCIPLINARY PROCESS

Following the footage becoming a trending topic, AKP Karabük Provincial Chair Ferhat Salt issued a written statement. Salt stated that the footage was being evaluated with sensitivity by the party organization and announced that a disciplinary process had been initiated against the individuals involved.

The statement included the following remarks:

"The necessary disciplinary process has been initiated regarding our organization members featured in the footage. As the AK Party, we always prioritize the values of our nation, social sensitivities, and the public conscience. It is impossible to accept any attitude or behavior that could harm this understanding. The process regarding the matter is being meticulously followed by our Provincial Presidency, and the necessary evaluations will be carried out within the relevant party mechanisms."
