Investigation into irregular spending at IMM

Following the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, a statement was issued regarding the launch of an investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality as well.

An investigation had already been launched into the ABB, one of the municipalities that has been under audit for approximately two days.

In the following hours, a statement regarding the IMM also came from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation in coordination with Ministry of Interior inspectors to determine whether irregular spending has led to public loss.

The following statements were included in the announcement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office:

“An ex officio investigation has been launched by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in coordination with Ministry of Interior inspectors regarding allegations on various news sites and social media platforms that irregular spending was made during certain events held by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, leading to public loss.”

WHAT DID ERDOĞAN SAY

AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, in a recent statement, criticized CHP-run municipalities regarding their spending and services, and used the expression, "We will hold those who recklessly use public funds and those who provide capital to their cronies accountable before the law."
