Investigation launched into Laçin for criticizing stray animal law

The controversial 5th article of the bill proposing amendments to the Animal Protection Law, which has drawn criticism for paving the way for the killing of stray dogs, was accepted and passed into law in the TBMM the other day.

While many segments of society have reacted to the law in question, Berna Laçin also made a post criticizing the law's passage through the TBMM.

Sharing on her social media account, Laçin used a photo taken by members of parliament in the assembly after the vote on the law and used the expressions, "You will be remembered with shame, you are cursed."

According to a report by the Sabah newspaper, an ex officio investigation was launched into Berna Laçin following this post.

An ex officio investigation has been launched against Berna Laçin for "Publicly Denigrating the TBMM," as regulated under Article 301/1 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK).
