An investigation has been announced against CHP leader Özgür Özel in connection with statements he made in Silivri.

An ex officio investigation has been launched against CHP leader Özgür Özel on charges of publicly insulting and threatening a public official in the course of their duties, stemming from remarks he directed at Republican Prosecutor C.C.S., who serves in the Organised Crime Investigation Bureau, during a press statement he made in Silivri on 16 July 2025.
In a statement issued by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office: "An ex officio investigation has been launched against CHP leader Özgür Özel on charges of publicly insulting and threatening a public official in the course of their duties, based on remarks he made targeting Republican Prosecutor C.C.S., who serves in our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Organised Crime Investigation Bureau, during a press statement he delivered in the Silivri district of our province on 16 July 2025.
In addition, a separate investigation has been launched into posts on social media accounts targeting our Republican Prosecutor following the aforementioned individual's statements."
