As the investigation continues into the attack that took place in front of the building housing the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul's Beşiktaş district, a video from the moment of the incident has triggered a new legal process.

FOOTAGE SHARED ON SOCIAL MEDIA DRAWS BACKLASH

In the footage circulating on social media, it was observed that some individuals used mocking language toward police officers during the clash with DAESH terrorists. The remarks made by individuals believed to be plaza employees, saying, "You play right back, I play left back. Run down, run, run," quickly sparked widespread public outrage.

PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE TAKES ACTION

Following the spread of the footage, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the matter. The statement noted that the suspects used the aforementioned expressions toward police teams responding to the terrorist attack.

The statement indicated that these remarks belittled the seriousness of the security forces performing their duties and attempted to discredit them in the eyes of the public. Furthermore, it was stated that such words directed at law enforcement officers, who were risking their lives at a time when an active security threat was ongoing, deeply wounded the public conscience.

INVESTIGATION INITIATED

In the assessment made by the prosecutor's office, it was emphasized that these remarks toward the police were not merely an act of individual disrespect, but also carried the potential to disrupt public order.

In this context, it was reported that an investigation has been launched against the suspects for the crimes of "Publicly Degrading the State's Security Organization" and "Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility or Degrading Them."
