OBSCENE NOISES HEARD
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) stated on Saturday that an investigation had been launched following the broadcast of sexually explicit noises during the Euro 2024 draw. As it was announced that Switzerland had been placed in Group A with Scotland, Hungary, and hosts Germany, obscene sounds were heard on the broadcast.
CLAIMED IT WAS A 'PRANK'
YouTube prankster Daniel Jarvis claimed responsibility for the stunt. While the Euro draw was taking place in Hamburg, Germany, Jarvis live-streamed himself on his social media account and triggered the noise by repeatedly calling a mobile phone he had hidden in the venue. Jarvis stated, "Listen, that was us, that was us. We put it there, we placed the phone there and rang it, sex noise at the Euro 2024 draw."
AUDIO RECORDING CONTROVERSY
UEFA Deputy General Secretary Giorgio Marchetti attempted to bring the situation under control, saying, "There is some noise here, but it has stopped now. There is no more noise."
When asked about the incident, England national team manager Gareth Southgate said he could hear the sounds faintly while sitting in the audience, adding, "I assume it's some sort of prank, but it was difficult to understand what it really was."
