Following a complaint by Kürşat Mican, Chairman of the Board of the Yesevi Alperenler Organization Association, an investigation has been launched into the 'Starting from the Middle' exhibition at ArtIstanbul Feshane on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting them."
A group of reactionaries led by Kürşat Mican, Chairman of the Board of the Yesevi Alperenler Organization Association, filed a criminal complaint on July 24 regarding the 'Starting from the Middle' exhibition opened at ArtIstanbul Feshane in Eyüpsultan, and subsequently held a press statement in front of the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.
Claiming that "LGBT propaganda is being conducted through paintings containing homosexuality" in the exhibition, Mican had demanded the closure of the exhibition, for which he filed a criminal complaint on the grounds of "insulting religious values, degradation, and incitement to hatred and hostility."
The group later attempted to attack the venue where the exhibition was being held.
