In a statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the Smuggling and Organized Crime Investigation Bureau has initiated an investigation into 18 suspects, including association executives, who are alleged to have obtained unfair financial gain by misappropriating donations collected under the name of the "Yaşama Tutunan Patiler Association."

The statement reported that 9 suspects, who were identified in the collected evidence and an expert report from Court of Accounts auditors as having caused approximately 20 million lira in damages, have been detained, and that the legal status of the other suspects will be evaluated after their statements are taken.

The statement noted that search and seizure operations are ongoing at the suspects' residences, the association headquarters, and relevant association units, and that coordination has been established with relevant public institutions to ensure the care and needs of the animals in the association's shelter are met during this process.

It was learned that Yaşama Tutunan Patiler Association President Buket Özgünlü is among those detained.
