A statement issued by the Giresun Governor's Office announced that certain allegations targeting Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Duroğlu Mayor Halil Çetin had been examined. The report prepared as a result of the preliminary investigation stated that findings indicating the occurrence of public financial loss had been reached. Within the scope of the investigation, it was assessed that financial losses occurred due to incomplete or non-standard practices in various projects, including stone wall and culvert construction projects carried out using the AFAD budget, as well as the procurement of goods and services.
As a result of the audits, it was concluded that 8 out of a total of 11 allegations were valid. In the Governor's Office's decision, findings were shared indicating that, in particular, tenders for sand-gravel, cement supply, paving stones, and gazebos, as well as certain transactions carried out at municipal facilities, were conducted in violation of procedures.
Giresun Governor Mehmet Fatih Serdengeçti granted permission for an investigation to be launched into Duroğlu Mayor Halil Çetin on the grounds of "abuse of office" within the scope of the aforementioned allegations. Following the notification of the decision, there is a right to appeal to the Samsun Regional Administrative Court within 10 days from the date of the announcement.
