Iran condemns US and UK attacks on Yemen
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani has condemned the airstrikes carried out by US and British warplanes on Yemen.

According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani issued a written statement regarding the attacks carried out by the US and the UK on Yemen.
Kanaani stated, "We strongly condemn the military attacks carried out by the US and the UK on various cities in Yemen."
Describing the attack as a violation of Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as international law, Kanaani noted the following:
"This arbitrary attack will serve no purpose other than fueling insecurity and instability in the region. We call upon the international community to prevent the spread of war, instability, and insecurity in the region through responsible reactions and actions."
US and British warplanes had carried out airstrikes on several locations in the Yemeni cities of Sanaa, Hodeidah, and Taiz during the night hours.
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE RED SEA
Recently, following the actions of the Houthis in Yemen against commercial vessels in response to Israel's attacks on Gaza, numerous shipping companies had decided to suspend their voyages in the Red Sea.
The Pentagon announced on December 6, 2023, that they were in talks to establish an international "Maritime Task Force" against attacks by Houthi forces in Yemen on commercial ships in the Red Sea, and on December 18, they announced the creation of a multinational mission called "Operation Prosperity Guardian."
While the Houthi attacks endanger passage through the Suez Canal—which connects the Mediterranean to the Red Sea, offers the shortest route between Europe and Asia, and accounts for approximately 12 percent of global trade—the attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the successive decisions made by companies have increased concerns that a new "supply chain crisis" could begin in the global economy.
