Irregularities exposed! Court of Accounts excludes earthquake-hit provinces

With the report, irregularities occurring in AKP-run municipalities have also come to light.
In a file prepared by Nurcan Gökdemir, Hüseyin Şimşek, and Mustafa Bildircin from BirGün, it was stated that the earthquake-hit provinces were excluded from the scope.
ATTENDANCE FEES IN ERZURUM
It was determined that board memberships in the companies of the Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, chaired by the AKP's Mehmet Sekmen, were distributed unfairly and that attendance fees were paid to these individuals.
FAVORS TO FOUNDATIONS IN KOCAELİ
It was revealed that the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, which is Turkey's most indebted municipality, allocated real estate owned by the municipality to foundations and associations and provided privileges to electricity distribution companies.
VEHICLE ALLOCATION WITHOUT COUNCIL APPROVAL IN KONYA
In the Court of Accounts' audits regarding the AKP-run Konya Metropolitan Municipality, it was determined that service and taxi plates were distributed irregularly and that vehicles were allocated to other institutions without a Council Decision.
TRUSTEE-RUN MUNICIPALITY LACKS OCCUPANCY PERMIT
The report emphasized that the Van Metropolitan Municipality, managed by the Van Governor as a trustee, did not even have occupancy permits for its own buildings, that businesses rented out were operating without business licenses, and that direct procurement procedures were violated in the municipality's goods and services purchases.
PUBLIC LOSS IN BALIKESİR
Numerous irregularities were caught in the audits of the financial accounts of the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality under the administration of the AKP's Yücel Yılmaz. The Court of Accounts audits exposed the municipality's tenders that were contrary to legislation, leading to public loss, and the privileges it provided to companies with public resources.
NO AUDITS FOR EARTHQUAKE-HIT MUNICIPALITIES
It was revealed that earthquake-hit provinces were excluded from the Court of Accounts' 2022 audits. While citizens wanted to learn "what was done wrong" following the earthquake disaster that occurred on February 6 and affected millions of citizens, the Court of Accounts left these provinces outside the scope of the audit.
