Participating in the 'Karşı Karşıya' (Face to Face) program hosted by İpek Özbey on Sözcü TV, Mütercimler made remarks drawing attention to foreign policy.
Evaluating President and AKP Chairman Tayyip Erdoğan's words that “Israel has its eyes on our lands,” Erol Mütercimler responded to the question “Is Turkey at risk?” by saying, “No, but let us keep in mind that any state can commit an act of madness at any moment.”
Mütercimler said, “I do not think Israel will attack Turkey. When you perform a power analysis, the probability of such a thing is 1 percent, but in strategy, 1 sometimes prevails over 99. Currently, there is no such war in question with Turkey.”

Actually, if we are to talk about risk regarding Turkey's future, do you know where the risk lies? The Afghans that Turkey has accepted into its borders, and the millions of fugitives it has taken from Syria. If something is to be organized inside Turkey tomorrow, it will be done by their hands. It will be done through the people whose souls they have purchased. I cannot fathom how Turkey made such a mistake.
What logic is there in bringing fugitives from Afghanistan? Why are you bringing those young Afghan soldiers trained by the US here? These people came from thousands of kilometers away; what is happening? Why did Iran allow them passage?
CRITICISM OF DAVUTOĞLU
Ahmet Davutoğlu, who served as Foreign Minister and Prime Minister, said things like, “We will take in 130 thousand people.” The strategic depth created by Davutoğlu sank into a strategic swamp, into darkness. Why did you take in so many fugitives?
