Following the decision of 5 member countries of the Organization of Turkic States to recognize the Greek Cypriot Administration, the Cyprus agenda continues to remain active.
Emphasizing that "it will continue to maintain its unity with the support of Turkey" during the event organized by Teknofest in the TRNC on May 1st, TRNC President Ersin Tatar made a striking statement.
'I WISH IT COULD HAPPEN'
When asked by a journalist, "How would you respond to changing the name of the TRNC to the Turkish State of Cyprus?", TRNC President Ersin Tatar replied, "I wish it could happen."
In the continuation of his statement, Tatar said, "There is no North and South left to this matter. It would be the Turkish Republic of Cyprus. I wish it could happen; all I will say is that the TRNC must now absolutely assert itself within these two states. The federation chapter has been closed. Therefore, the rule of the North has fallen. Look, this is what is important."
