ISIS operation in Adana

19 suspects were apprehended in an operation targeting the terrorist organization ISIS in Adana. It was determined that the suspects were extorting money from tradespeople and business owners and carrying out armed attacks against individuals who did not align with the organization's ideology.

According to the information received, teams from the Provincial Security Directorate's Counter-Terrorism Branch (TEM) conducted an operation targeting 19 individuals operating within two separate groups of the terrorist organization ISIS, named "Extortion" and "Punishment." Following approximately 10 months of technical and physical surveillance, the suspects were identified through statements and identification methods. Based on the information obtained, simultaneous dawn raids were carried out at 25 addresses with the support of special operations police. All 19 suspects were apprehended in the operation. Searches conducted at the addresses resulted in the seizure of 1 unlicensed pistol, 1 pump-action shotgun, 2 so-called ISIS flags, 7 banned organizational books, 18 cartridges, and 15 digital materials.

"THEY EXTORTED MONEY FROM TRADESPEOPLE AND BUSINESS OWNERS"

In the work carried out by counter-terrorism police, it was determined that the suspects in the organization's "Extortion" group collected money from business owners and tradespeople by claiming they were "imposing penalties on behalf of the organization." It was also revealed that the suspects carried out armed attacks on workplaces to intimidate tradespeople operating in the 19 Mayıs, Bahçelievler, Koza, Anadolu, and Yamaçlı neighborhoods of the Yüreğir district.

It was determined that the suspects in the organization's "Punishment" group targeted those who did not align with ISIS's ideology, carrying out armed attacks, assaults, and threats.
It was learned that the 19 suspects, who are currently in police custody, will be referred to the courthouse following their interrogation.
