ISIS operation in Istanbul: 24 arrests!

Operations against terrorist organizations continue without slowing down. It has been learned that 24 people detained in the latest operation against the ISIS terrorist organization have been arrested.

The investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau into suspects involved in illegal mosque and madrasa activities under the name Ahidder within ISIS is ongoing. In this context, the police processing of the 34 individuals detained has been completed.

The suspects, who underwent health checks, were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. After giving their statements to the prosecutor, the suspects were brought before the on-duty magistrate judge. Following the examinations, the court decided to arrest 24 of the suspects.

Judicial control measures were applied to the other suspects, with 10 being placed under an obligation to sign in and 1 being placed under house arrest.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Teams from the Istanbul Counter-Terrorism Branch Directorate had determined that ISIS was conducting illegal mosque and madrasa activities under the name Ahidder. It was determined that the suspect M.K. organized jihad-themed lessons, chats, and events on behalf of the organization, and that funds were collected for these activities under the guise of fitra, zakat, and infaq. During the operations, the identities and addresses of those providing financing to the organization were identified, and simultaneous operations were carried out in 10 districts, resulting in the detention of 34 suspects.
