ISIS operation in Mersin: 9 arrests
In an operation conducted by the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) and the police in Mersin targeting the structure of the terrorist organization ISIS, 9 out of 16 detained suspects were arrested.

According to the information received, teams from the MİT Presidency and the Provincial Security Directorate's Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Branch conducted an operation to uncover the actions and activities of members of the terrorist organization ISIS.
During the teams' investigation, it was determined that 16 suspects had previously operated as armed members within the terrorist organization ISIS, were seeking to establish a structure in the city in line with the organization's ideology, and had also served in the organization's so-called intelligence unit.
Following this, a simultaneous operation was carried out at multiple addresses with the participation of 150 police officers, including special operations teams. 16 suspects were detained in the operation.
The suspects, whose statements were taken at the police station, were referred to the courthouse. Of the suspects brought before the court, 9 were arrested, while 7 were released pending trial.
