ISIS operation in Sultanbeyli: Suspect who opened fire on police neutralized

A clash broke out in Istanbul's Sultanbeyli district during an operation aimed at capturing Berkan Ç., who is considered to have links to ISIS/DAESH.

According to the statement made by the Istanbul Governor's Office, the operation was carried out by teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch, in coordination with the Intelligence Branch.

The Governor's Office reported that the 21-year-old suspect was believed to be planning a terrorist attack in Turkey. It was announced that the suspect opened fire on the police officers during the apprehension attempt, and Berkan Ç. was neutralized after the police returned fire.

It was stated that one citizen was injured during the operation. While no details were shared regarding the health status of the injured person, it was noted that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
