ISIS supporters seize detention center in Russia
Five individuals identifying as ISIS supporters took hostages at a detention center in Russia's Rostov region. Security forces have managed to bring the situation under control at the scene.

Russia's Rostov region saw inmates take two staff members hostage at a prison. The incident was announced on the Telegram channel of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service.
According to the statement from the Federal Penitentiary Service, inmates at the SIZO-1 detention center in the Rostov region took two correctional officers hostage. The head of the regional FSIN, law enforcement officials, and representatives from the prosecutor's office are on the scene. Negotiations for the release of the hostages are ongoing.
'SITUATION UNDER CONTROL'
Prison authorities stated that the SIZO is continuing its normal operations and that the situation is under control. A team from the headquarters of the Federal Penitentiary Service has traveled to Rostov to launch an investigation into the incident.
According to RIA Novosti, one of the hostages is an operations officer, and the other is a guard.
The inmates holding the hostages are being tried on terrorism charges. According to the source, the inmates have axes taken from fire-extinguishing equipment and plastic batons, but they do not possess firearms.

The identities of the five inmates holding the hostages are as follows:
S.M. Saypudinov (Article 161, Part 2, and Article 162 of the Russian Criminal Code)
A.M. Tsitskiyev (Article 205, Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code)
T.M. Gireyev (Article 205.5, Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code)
Sh.A. Akiev (Article 205.5, Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code)
The identity of the sixth inmate has not yet been determined.
Gireyev, Tsitskiyev, and Akiev were convicted in December 2023 for joining ISIS (recognized and banned as a terrorist organization in Russia) and planning a terrorist attack (they were planning to attack the Karachay-Cherkessia Supreme Court building). Gireyev and Akiev were sentenced to 18 years, and Tsitskiyev was sentenced to 18 and a half years in prison.
Earlier today, Gireyev, Akiev, and Tsitskiyev broke the window bars in their cells and infiltrated the prison's guard section, where they took two staff members hostage.
Traffic flow in the center of Rostov has been restricted due to the incident. Given the seriousness of the situation, authorities have increased security measures in the area.
