Istanbul and Gaza 'Sister City' protocol approved at IMM Assembly meeting
At the October assembly meeting of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), commission reports regarding humanitarian aid to Gaza and the establishment of a sister city protocol between Istanbul and the city of Gaza in Palestine were unanimously approved.

The second session of the IMM October assembly meeting began at 14:30 at the meeting hall in Saraçhane. The assembly meeting was opened by IMM Assembly 2nd Deputy Speaker Gökhan Gümüşdağ.
During the meeting, questions regarding transportation in Istanbul were submitted on behalf of the MHP Group.
Furthermore, commission reports regarding humanitarian aid to be provided to Gaza and the establishment of a sister city protocol between Istanbul and the city of Gaza in Palestine were discussed and voted upon. The items were accepted unanimously.
"IT IS AN INDICATION OF A PERSPECTIVE THAT STANDS AGAINST OPPRESSION"
Speaking after the approval of the item regarding humanitarian aid to be provided to Gaza, Palestine, CHP Assembly Member Batuhan Ersoy stated, "The humanitarian tragedy that has been unfolding in Gaza for months is leaving deep wounds in all of our hearts. Thousands of civilians, unable to access the most basic human needs such as food, water, shelter, and healthcare, are struggling to survive before the eyes of the world.
This aid is being provided without any political interest, solely as a requirement of being human. As the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, we consider it a duty to stand by the people of Gaza, whom Istanbul embraces with its heart. In this context, I thank the other groups in the assembly for their support.
We believe that the aid within the scope of this report will be delivered in the fastest and most effective manner. The unanimous decision taken here today is not just an assembly decision, but an expression of a call for peace and solidarity, upholding the dignity of humanity.
This aid is an indication of a perspective that stands by the oppressed and against oppression. With this helping hand extending from the conscience of Istanbul to Gaza, we will once again set an example for the world. I hope that the oppression and crimes against humanity experienced by the people of Gaza and in all geographies across the world will come to an end as soon as possible."
