Istanbul Bar Association to hold press conference against removal attempt

A lawsuit has been filed requesting the removal of Istanbul Bar Association President İbrahim Kaboğlu and 10 board members from their duties. A statement regarding the matter was issued by the Istanbul Bar Association. The Bar's statement included the expression, "It is our obligation to uphold the will of the Istanbul Bar Association General Assembly against this attempt to remove us from office."
The following statements were included in the announcement from the Bar:
"We have learned that a lawsuit has been filed in the Civil Court of First Instance with the indictment dated 14.01.2025, prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, requesting the removal of the President and members of the Istanbul Bar Association Board of Directors from their duties and the election of a new bar president and board members. Our Board of Directors was elected by the will of the Istanbul Bar Association General Assembly and fulfills its duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Constitution, democracy, and the law. It is our obligation to uphold the will of the Istanbul Bar Association General Assembly against this attempt to remove us from office, which has no legal or legitimate basis, and to inform our members and the public. In accordance with this obligation, a press conference will be held on January 15, 2025, at 17:00 at the Istanbul Bar Association Headquarters.
