Istanbul-based criminal organization operation: Proceedings initiated against 90 suspects, 50 detained
In a large-scale operation coordinated by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 50 people have been detained in connection with an armed criminal organization led by a figure codenamed "Piro."

A large-scale operation targeting profit-oriented criminal organizations was conducted in the morning hours under the coordination of the Organized Crime Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
According to the statement issued by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the investigation into the armed criminal organization operating under the leadership of U.Ş., codenamed "Piro," determined that the organization attempted to obtain money and financial benefits from victims under the guise of "imposing penalties," and committed crimes including armed attacks on workplaces and attempted extortion to this end.
Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that the organization operated within a hierarchical structure and a chain of command. It was revealed that the members of the organization carried out a total of 31 separate acts, and that 94 suspects were involved in these acts.
Upon the instructions of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous operations were carried out in Istanbul, as well as in Diyarbakır, Kastamonu, Ağrı, and Burdur. So far, 50 suspects have been detained in the operation, and it was reported that efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing. Additionally, it was determined that 26 individuals involved in the investigation are currently in penal institutions as detainees or convicts.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office statement included the following: "Efforts to expose and dismantle criminal organizations are being carried out meticulously in order to protect public safety and peace, and to ensure that society lives securely within the legal order."
It was stated that work is continuing to clarify all aspects of the investigation.
