Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announces: Blow to UAE intelligence espionage

In a statement released by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was reported that "political or military espionage" activities conducted in Turkey by individuals linked to United Arab Emirates intelligence had been detected. It was stated that the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch and the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) conducted a joint operation as part of the investigation.

CRITICAL INSTITUTIONS TARGETED

Investigations revealed that UAE intelligence personnel created fake profiles using a line belonging to a GSM operator in Turkey. Through these profiles, it was determined that they were attempting to collect biographical data on:

Personnel at the executive level working in defense industry organizations,

A telephone line used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

Individuals in critical positions who are in contact with official representatives of foreign countries.

The investigation confirmed these efforts to gather biographical data.

ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED VIA GSM LINE

The investigation revealed that a GSM line was purchased in Turkey to be used for espionage activities and that this line was taken to the United Arab Emirates and handed over to intelligence personnel. It was stated that four individuals in contact with each other played a role in this process.

OPERATION CARRIED OUT ON NOVEMBER 25

It was noted that the operation targeting the identified individuals was carried out on November 25, 2025. It was announced that three people were apprehended within the scope of the operation, and an arrest warrant was issued for one person who is currently abroad.
