Statement from Istanbul Governor Gül on the safety of schools and students: At the highest level

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, in a statement on his social media account regarding the armed attacks on schools in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, said, "We wish God's mercy upon our children who lost their lives due to the sad events that occurred in our schools, and we wish a speedy recovery to our wounded; we extend our patience and condolences to their families.

Posts aiming to cause fear and panic among our citizens by citing school names in different locations are being closely monitored. 

Irresponsible comments, mocking expressions, and so-called 'entertainment' content made over this great pain can never be accepted.

Such pain cannot be made a subject of exploitation; it cannot be taken lightly in any way.

Individuals and accounts spreading such content aimed at unsettling the public are being identified instantly by our security units, and the necessary legal actions are being taken against them without delay. 

No attempt targeting public order will be tolerated.

All measures for the safety of our students in our schools have been taken at the highest level, and educational activities are continuing safely. We kindly request our parents to be at ease and to take into account only the statements from our official institutions," he said.
