Warning on 'begging' from Istanbul Governor Gül
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül has called on citizens to be cautious against beggars who exploit public emotions by faking epileptic seizures, noting that the medication for registered patients is covered by the state.

In a statement on his social media account titled "Attention! This is a Fraud Method," Istanbul Governor Gül warned citizens against fake illness methods used in begging.
In his post, Governor Gül stated that all medication expenses for registered epilepsy patients are covered by the state and that this situation is also known by pharmacists.
Emphasizing that one of the most common methods encountered in the fight against begging is fake illness and victimhood stories, Gül said, "As long as people are deceived by scenes such as someone fainting on public transport or someone eating with their child next to a trash container, these abuses will not end."
Stating that citizens must be careful and sensitive for the peace and security of society, Gül emphasized the importance of delivering zakat and alms directly to known needy individuals or reliable institutions.
