It had been learned that the trustee-managed Şişli Municipality had cut scholarship and transportation support for students.
In a statement made by the Şişli Municipality, it was argued that the support in question was not included in municipal expenditures. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül quoted this statement and said, "The Şişli Municipality has debunked the lie of the day."
RESPONSE TO DAVUT GÜL CAME FROM ÖZGÜR ÇELİK
CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik quoted Governor Gül's post and wrote the following:
"Let us explain the truth:
Resul Emrah Şahan was paying for the scholarship and transportation support not from the coffers of the Şişli Municipality, but by finding voluntary donors. In other words, not a single penny was coming out of the municipality's coffers. Because Resul Emrah Şahan is a very good and talented mayor.
The trustee cut the scholarship and subscription support because they did not want to deal with this work. They destroyed the urban solidarity that had been woven stitch by stitch in one go.
"THE GOVERNOR IS PERSISTENTLY ENGAGING IN TRUSTEE DEFENSE COMMUNICATION"
The Governor, on the other hand, is persistently taking a political position and engaging in trustee defense communication. He spends his working hours announcing the events of AK Party municipalities.
The duty of our city's top administrative official is not to engage in political propaganda.
Let us remind him: The Governor's duty is to ensure the life and property safety of our people and the public order of the city."
Let us explain the truth:
