Istanbul Governor's Office announces: Banned until Sunday

The Istanbul Governor's Office has banned heavy-tonnage vehicles from leaving the city until 05:00 on Sunday, June 16, 2024, as part of the Eid al-Adha Traffic Measures Directive.

The Istanbul Governor's Office announced in a statement that, in accordance with the Ministry of Interior's “Eid al-Adha Traffic Measures Directive,” restrictions have been imposed on the exit of heavy-tonnage vehicles from the city.

In the statement made by the Istanbul Governor's Office, it was stated: "In accordance with our Ministry of Interior's “Eid al-Adha Traffic Measures Directive”; in order to minimize traffic density that may occur due to the coincidence of the 2024 Eid al-Adha holiday and the end of the 2023-2024 academic year, and to prevent potential negative incidents;

it has been decided that trucks, tractor units, semi-trailers, etc. heavy-tonnage vehicles shall not be permitted to travel on the D-100 Highway, O-7 (Northern Marmara), O-3 (TEM) and all connecting roads, as well as in the eastern exit direction of our province, from 06:00 on Friday, June 14, 2024, until 05:00 on Sunday, June 16, 2024. To ensure that supply chains are not disrupted, it has been decided that vehicles such as trucks, tractor units, and tankers carrying perishable foods like fresh vegetables/fruits, milk and dairy products, live and cut flowers, medicine, medical supplies, mail/periodicals, sacrificial animals, and fuel shall be permitted to travel exceptionally, provided they use routes other than main arteries where possible, and remain on main arteries for the minimum time necessary in cases of necessity."
