Istanbul Governor's Office announces: Metro access to Taksim and Kabataş suspended
In accordance with the decision taken by the Istanbul Governor's Office, the Taksim Station on the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line and the F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line have been closed as of 5:00 PM until further notice. The Istiklal Street entrance of the Şişhane Station will also be closed.

Within the scope of security measures taken by the Istanbul Governor's Office, it has been decided to close the Taksim Station, one of the central points of the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line, and the F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line to operations. Metro Istanbul had initially announced the closure time as 3:00 PM. However, according to the latest update, the closing time has been postponed to 5:00 PM.
TAKSİM AND KABATAŞ STATIONS TEMPORARILY CLOSED
The statement made on Metro Istanbul's social media account included the following expressions:
“In accordance with the decision taken by the Istanbul Governor's Office, as of 5:00 PM today, the Taksim station of our M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line, the Istiklal Street entrance of the Şişhane station, and our F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line will be closed to operations until further notice. Our trains will continue their journey without stopping at the Taksim station.”
ŞİŞHANE WILL REMAIN PARTIALLY IN SERVICE
Only the entrance to the Şişhane Station, which leads to Istiklal Street, has been closed. Other entrances and exits will remain open. In this way, passengers will be able to access the metro from Şişhane, but the passages in the direction of Istiklal will not be usable.
