Istanbul Governor's Office closes Taksim-Şişhane metro stations for March 8
The Istanbul Governor's Office has decided to close the Taksim and Şişhane stations of the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman metro line as of 14:00 on March 8, International Women's Day.

Istanbul, as is the case every March 8, International Women's Day, saw calls for a gathering at Taksim at 19:30 for the Feminist Night March.
Following the call, the Istanbul Governor's Office took action. The Governor's Office decided to close the Taksim and Şişhane stations on the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman metro line due to March 8.
Metro Istanbul announced the decision on its social media account.
The post included the following statements:
"In accordance with the decision taken by the Istanbul Governor's Office, as of 14:00 on Friday, March 8, our M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line's Taksim station, the Istiklal Street entrance of the Şişhane station, and our F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line will be closed to operation until further notice. Our vehicles will not stop at the Taksim station and will continue their journey."
