Fake diploma post from Istanbul University academic Şinasi Gündüz: The Kemalist system is a complete septic tank
Prof. Gündüz, a member of the Istanbul University Faculty of Theology, made a striking statement on his social media account regarding the fake diploma incidents currently on the agenda. Gündüz pointed to the 'Kemalist' system as the culprit behind what is happening.

A lawsuit was filed in May against 134 people who forged university diplomas, high school diplomas, and driver's licenses by copying the electronic signatures of numerous public institution managers.
With a second indictment completed in July, 65 more people were included in the case, bringing the number of defendants to 199.
While the repercussions of the investigation, in which hundreds of people ranging from lawyers to food engineers, teachers, and pharmacists obtained fake academic degrees, continue, a post by Prof. Dr. Şinasi Gündüz, a member of the Department of History of Religions at Istanbul University, has drawn backlash.
Prof. Dr. Gündüz used the following expressions in the statement he made on his social media account:
"The fake diploma gang incident... Lawyers, engineers, teachers, pharmacists, historians... Among them are 400 fake academics, professors, and associate professors... The positions they took, the postgraduate studies they completed... It makes one's heart sink just thinking about it... The Kemalist system is a complete septic tank."
