Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Lines has announced that the İstinye-Çubuklu car ferry line will be closed starting July 31, 2025. The decision will result in the end of maritime transportation between the two points.

Sea Dolmuş services aim to replace the car ferry line, offering passengers a faster and more practical transportation option. This new service will be an alternative solution for those looking to avoid Istanbul's heavy traffic.

The closure of the İstinye-Çubuklu line will eliminate the advantage of short-duration travel provided by the sea route. Vehicle owners will be forced to choose land routes such as the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, or Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge to cross between the European and Anatolian sides.
