It was claimed that 100 million Euros were offered: Statement from TRT regarding Champions League broadcasting rights!

The Presidential Communications Directorate's Center for Combating Disinformation has announced that the claim shared on some social media accounts, stating that "TRT has offered 100 million Euros for the Champions League broadcasting rights. Half of this will result in a loss," is not true.

It was claimed that TRT had made a 100 million Euro bid for the Champions League broadcasting rights. The Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM), affiliated with the Presidency, denied the claim in question.

In a statement made on the center's social media account regarding the issue, it was recalled that TRT had acquired the broadcasting rights for the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Conference League for 3 seasons between 2024 and 2027.

Stating that the claim that "TRT offered 100 million Euros for the Champions League broadcasting rights" is not true, the statement noted the following:

"The figures shared on social media accounts regarding the broadcasting rights in question do not reflect the truth. The cost of the broadcasting rights is at a level that can be easily covered by TRT's commercial initiatives, such as advertising and subscription revenues. As a sign of its support for Turkish football, TRT will offer the matches of Turkish teams to the public free of charge on TRT 1 and TRT Spor channels."
