'It was the Soviet Union that stood against the imperialist system'

Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniye was killed at his residence in Tehran, the capital of Iran. The news was first announced by Iranian state television.

In a written statement, Hamas also confirmed that Haniye was killed in an airstrike carried out by the Israeli military. Haniye was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Following the news of Haniye's killing, Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) General Secretary Kemal Okuyan made a post on his X account. Noting that the collapse of the USSR cemented lawlessness in the international arena, Okuyan emphasized that "today, the only measure in the world is 'power'." "The killing of Hamas leader Haniye in Tehran is further proof that lawlessness and the law of the jungle have become the only rule. It was the Soviet Union that stood against the imperialist system, bringing certain rules to the international arena and ensuring that not everyone could do whatever they wanted. Conflicts would arise and political assassinations would still occur, but everyone felt the pressure of a social system that systematically opposed armament and advocated for social justice and equality, forcing them to keep themselves in check and watch their step.

'WE HAVE RETURNED TO A WORLD WHERE NO ONE RECOGNIZES RULES'

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the number of hot conflicts increased suddenly, and step by step, we returned to a world where no one recognizes rules. Today, the only measure in the world is 'power'. 'I can go and shoot people in another country. I can occupy another country. I do not recognize borders. I am right because my interests are above everything...' Israel is the 'model' state of this world.

The most spoiled, the most arrogant, the most cruel, the most indifferent, the most ruthless. We are talking about a country that is increasingly losing its right to exist and its legitimacy. But let us not forget, the source of lawlessness in the international arena is social inequality. The order of holding companies that we question and stand against is a collection of lawlessness. For this reason, every capitalist country has a potential tendency to become Israelized."
