Statement from the İYİ Party Congress Organization Committee regarding the 5th Extraordinary Congress
The İYİ Party Congress Organization Committee has issued a written statement regarding the allegations made concerning the 5th Extraordinary Congress.
AA
The İYİ Party Congress Organization Committee announced that the delegate lists for the 5th Extraordinary Congress were posted at the Çankaya 4th District Election Board, shared with the candidates, and that as a result of the objections filed, it was revealed that the allegations of "organized irregularities" did not reflect the truth.
In the written statement issued by the Congress Organization Committee, it was recalled that the İYİ Party 5th Extraordinary Congress will be held on April 27 at the ATO Congresium.
Stating that preparations for the congress are being carried out with great meticulousness by the established commission, the following information was shared:
"In line with the congress calendar, the delegate lists were posted at the Çankaya 4th District Election Board, shared with the candidates, and as a result of the objections filed, it was revealed that the allegations of 'organized irregularities' did not reflect the truth. Specifically, out of 1,302 delegates, errors made inadvertently in the information of only 16 delegates in total were corrected: 12 delegates as a result of objections made by our Headquarters, 1 delegate as a result of an objection made on behalf of Mr. Koray Aydın, and 3 delegates as a result of individual applications. The objection made on behalf of Mr. Mehmet Tolga Akalın was rejected by the district election board on the grounds of lack of evidence, and the delegate list was finalized."
''A MEETING WAS HELD WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF REPRESENTATIVES OF ALL OUR CANDIDATES''
In the statement, it was noted that the Ankara Book Fair will be held between April 26 and May 5 in the exhibition area outside the meeting hall of the ATO Congresium, and the following was recorded:
"Upon the invitation of the law enforcement authorities responsible for the security of the congress, we met with them regarding the use of the congress hall and the surrounding area, and subsequently, a meeting was held at our Headquarters on April 24 with the participation of representatives of all our candidates. The İYİ Party has more than 500 thousand members, hundreds of thousands of volunteers, and millions of voters. Our greatest desire is to bring all our members and volunteers together at our congress. However, the hall where the congress will be held has a capacity of 3 thousand people. Our 1,302 delegates who will vote, the representatives of our candidates, members of the press, members and observers who will serve at the ballot boxes, and officials fill a large part of the hall's capacity. It has been foreseen that if there is participation exceeding the congress capacity, many of our members and volunteers will be left outside and will suffer grievances due to the occupancy of the exhibition area."
THE CONGRESS WILL BE BROADCAST LIVE
The Congress Organization Committee included the following information in its statement:
"For the reasons stated, it was announced at the meeting that our 624 provincial and district chairs who are not delegates, our 31 mayors, and our 25 former-term deputies would be invited to our congress to represent our provinces and organization, and that LED screens would be set up outside for party members who could not enter the hall due to capacity constraints, with the congress being broadcast live on these screens and our party's social media accounts; issues such as the color of the candidates' ballot papers and the presence of observers at the ballot boxes were decided. In addition to the aforementioned issues, the suggestions of all representatives regarding the functioning of the congress were accepted. We thank all our candidates and their representatives who contributed to the process of conducting our congress under civilized and democratic conditions with their suggestions."
''NO EXTERNAL FORCE HAS BEEN ABLE TO ASSIGN A POLITICAL ROLE TO THE İYİ PARTY, AND THEY CANNOT''
Stating that the İYİ Party has implemented democracy at the highest level since its establishment and has acted in accordance with decisions taken through consultation on every matter, the following was said:
"Unfortunately, the issues of the delegate lists, which were duly posted and finalized, and the limitation of congress invitees for the stated reasons have been distorted in the press and social media, and the subject has been dragged into other arenas. So much so that unfair and baseless accusations are being brought to the agenda, such as that there is external interference in our congress process. The İYİ Party has never allowed, and will not allow, the tutelage or interference of any office, authority, institution, or organization to this day. Baseless claims and accusations have not been able to, and cannot, cast a shadow over our principle of operating democracy at the highest level. No one has been able to, and cannot, hinder our journey to power and our goal of governing our country in the best way possible. No external force has been able to assign a political role to the İYİ Party, and they cannot. Contrary claims and accusations cast suspicion on our valuable delegates who will decide on the future of our party by voting at the congress, our general chair candidates, and every single İYİ Party soldier who has taken part in our political struggle since our establishment."
