The Rectorate of Istanbul University has reached a decision regarding Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. It has been announced to the public that İmamoğlu's undergraduate diploma has been cancelled.
The cancellation of the diploma drew a wave of reactions. One such reaction came from İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu. Dervişoğlu stated, "I invite those who think they are governing Turkey to act responsibly. Do not ruin the country!.."
Sharing his thoughts on his social media account, the İYİ Party leader used the following expressions:
"The cancellation of Mr. İmamoğlu's diploma is an application that goes far beyond the elimination of a political rival.
It is a bad grade added to our report card of law and democracy, which is already full of weaknesses, a crude blow to our social peace, and an open invitation to drag us into chaos.
I invite those who think they are governing Turkey to act responsibly.
Do not ruin the country!.."
