İYİ Party Leader Dervişoğlu: There is no need for anything else to be and remain Turkish

Dervişoğlu wished for a happy May 3rd Turkism Day at the program organized by his party at the ATO Congresium Congress and Exhibition Center on the occasion of Turkism Day.

Expressing that citizenship of the Republic of Turkey is the sole criterion for equality in the country, Dervişoğlu said that the position of those from the east, west, north, or south makes no difference to them.

Dervişoğlu used the expression, "You are a woman, a man, Turkish, Kurdish, Alevi, Sunni, right-wing, left-wing, it does not matter. Are you a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, are you one of those who founded this country in 1923? That is enough. There is no need for anything else to be and remain Turkish. This identity game must end now, this exchange of belonging must be brought to an end."

Arguing that the assets of the Turkish nation have been tied to a fund administration, Dervişoğlu continued his speech as follows:

"The green of the homeland has faded, its forests have been slaughtered. Those who do not pity its green have, of course, treated the blue of the homeland the same way. In short, they have preferred the green of the dollar to all the colors of the homeland. What the Turkish nation is being put through cannot be explained by poverty alone. We are facing the consequences of the government's conscious policies. They are impoverishing us because they want to make us dependent. They are intimidating us because they want to suppress and silence us. This is exactly the reason for our insistence on a 'speaking Turkey.' And that is why we say 'strengthened parliamentary system.' Because without justice in representation, there can be no justice in distribution. Without justice in taxation, there can be no justice in income. Without justice in production, there can be no justice in the courts. Without prioritizing the human, there can be no order in the state. Our nationalism is as much about questioning the order as it is about keeping the state alive."

Dervişoğlu also made evaluations regarding the process for a terror-free Turkey, noting the following:

"For over a century, we have stood where we stand, and we say again and again that if there is a problem in this country and it is to be solved, it is for everyone to attain their universal and constitutional rights stemming from first being human, and then being a citizen. And today, the same actors, with the same intentions and flowery words, are trying to respond to the problem they created themselves with a solution, and to a non-existent war with peace; they are demanding a new Constitution to replace the one they have suspended, and they are calling a regime of servitude 'democracy.' And not stopping there, without even blushing, they are making the Turkish state engage with Kandil and İmralı. The solution is law. The solution is citizenship. The solution is the nation uniting in a common destiny. The solution is meeting in the Republic. The prescription is our 'strengthened parliamentary system' thesis."
