İYİ Party Secretary General Poyraz: A pyramid formed by small 'one-man' figures has emerged in Turkey

Uğur Poyraz was a guest on the program "Gerçek Fikri Ne?" (What is the Real Idea?), prepared and hosted by Eren Eğilmez on Habertürk.

When asked for his assessment regarding AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan's remarks that "politics needs softening," Uğur Poyraz stated that it is difficult to categorize politics based on definitions like softening or hardening, and evaluated the message the nation gave to politicians in the local elections.

In his assessment, Poyraz stated that the nation expressed through the election that it does not want rhetoric, polarizing language, or fighting in the face of the social problems it experiences. "The lesson drawn from the election result analysis today is this: the nation says I have burning problems. There is a lack of quality in education, a crisis in health, a burning depression in the economy, all kinds of deprivation in law and justice, and deprivation in freedom. These problems do not look at whether I am Turkish or Kurdish, Alevi or Sunni, right-wing or left-wing, pro-government or opposition. These problems are consuming us all. The voter said, 'I no longer want polarizing language.' This is the most striking message to be read from the ballot box," he said.

Emphasizing that they carry responsibilities on their shoulders, Poyraz stated that at the end of the day, the nation put a wedge in this rhetoric-based politics and that everyone should take responsibility for this wedge.

"FOR THE DREAM OF A GREAT AND POWERFUL TURKEY..."

Poyraz also emphasized that the nation wants trust and the stability of trust, saying, "Regarding developments in the outside world, for the dream of a great and powerful Turkey, we all need a system and rules that do not change from the time we go to bed at night until we wake up in the morning."

Stating that all politicians are ready for a culture of consensus and that the nation also has an expectation in this direction, Poyraz said, "If we are all ready, let us first put aside this system that emerged with the state of emergency (OHAL) conditions in Turkey and still continues after the state of emergency."

"A PYRAMID FORMED BY 'ONE-MAN' FIGURES"

Recalling that the term "one-man" is used from time to time for President Erdoğan, Poyraz pointed out that there are "one-man" figures in all 81 provinces and all districts of Turkey today, saying, "Governors in 81 provinces, Provincial Police Chiefs, prosecutors, criminal judges of peace, and land registry directors are 'one-man' figures. I will even go further; watchmen in neighborhoods are 'one-man' figures. In other words, a pyramid formed by small 'one-man' figures is emerging. All of this has exhausted and strained us a lot," he said.

"WE FIND IT POSITIVE"

Expressing that they welcome the visit of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel to President Erdoğan, Poyraz stated, however, that if this remains just a photo and the courtesy of the organizations represented by the duo towards each other does not continue with the same determination, this meeting will have no meaning.

"THE NUMBER OF UNTOUCHED ARTICLES IS 58"

Stating that the new Constitution is a matter of reading intentions, Poyraz explained that during Numan Kurtulmuş's visit to Müsavat Dervişoğlu, it was repeatedly stated that the Presidential government system is an amorphous structure and does not coincide with Turkey's state tradition and parliamentary culture.

Poyraz emphasized that during the July 15 coup process, the country needed to be governed by the state of emergency and state of emergency laws, and that this was an understandable situation in terms of making sense of the system, but that that period is behind us and the Presidential Government System has swept away many things from everyone's mind and state experience.

Stating that the new Constitution debates should not overshadow Turkey's burning problems, Poyraz emphasized that the İYİ Party is the pioneer of the Strengthened Parliamentary System, underlining that this system is a guide to getting rid of the current system.

Continuing his speech, Poyraz said, "Whenever new constitution debates come to the agenda, there is a sentence in quotation marks: 'military tutelage constitution, coup constitution!' When this constitution was made in 1982, it had 177 articles; now it has 154 articles. Changes have been made in 19 packages, 7 before the AK Party and 12 during the AK Party period. Including duplicates, it corresponds to a total of 184 articles, and in total, 96 articles have been changed, and the number of untouched articles is 58," he said.

Counting a few of the 58 articles that have not changed, taking into account the 2017 Referendum where the seeds of the People's Alliance were sown during the AKP's 12-year rule, Poyraz stated that none of these articles have anything to do with a coup constitution or military tutelage.

Uğur Poyraz reminded that in the system by which Turkey is governed, the person who appoints ministers and their deputies, general managers, heads of inspection boards, and provincial directors is the same person, emphasizing that the person who appoints the audit mechanisms within the system is also the same person.

'MINISTERS MUST USE INITIATIVE' OUTBURST

Uğur Poyraz stated that today in Turkey, no one can step into security, tax office, courthouse, or Social Security Institution (SGK) buildings without putting someone in between. Poyraz also stated that almost everyone has experienced this, and those who have not have witnessed it through their relatives.

Saying that we are going through a process where we are struggling with such problems, Poyraz said, "That is when small subgroups form, mini-states within the state!

Then we ask, where and why did we separate, why are we clashing? If we are to make the state respectable rather than sacred in all of this; if we are to determine and seat the people who will manage the respectable state within the limits of initiative in the representative office, then we are obliged to make the necessary changes to this constitution immediately and urgently. But this cannot unfortunately be an organization where we tie ourselves to the life of one person!" he said.

Asking "what will we do?" in the event of the illness or death of AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, Poyraz reminded that ministers say "with the instructions of our President" while responding to fires or earthquakes, and stated that he wants the ministers of this country to use their own initiative when intervening in an incident.
