İYİ Party Secretary General Poyraz reminds the government of 'Dolmabahçe'
İYİ Party Secretary General Uğur Poyraz, while speaking about the Kobani case, asked the government: "What were you doing at Dolmabahçe with the main suspects of the October 6-7-8 events?" Poyraz also touched upon the normalization debates.

Poyraz was a guest on the 'Fevzi Çakır ile Türkiye Nabzı' program on Habertürk. Uğur Poyraz made evaluations and striking statements regarding the country's agenda.
İYİ Party Secretary General Poyraz recalled the meeting between the then-Undersecretary of the MİT and the so-called leader of the terrorist organization, Abdullah Öcalan, in 2012, the subsequent reading of Öcalan's letter, the establishment of the 'Wise People' committee, the requirement of gubernatorial permission for military operations, and the start of rallies against the resolution process by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli.
Continuing to describe the events that took place during the resolution process at that time, Poyraz recalled that in 2013, the then-Prime Minister, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, met with the 'Wise People' committee.
Recalling that Kurdish was permitted in private schools and the 'Student Oath' (Andımız) was abolished as part of the democratization package released on August 30, 2013, he used the expression, "The mountain labored and brought forth a mouse."
Recalling that then-Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu met with the 'Wise People' committee for 11 hours on October 19, following the October 6-7-8 events, Poyraz stated, "The then-undersecretary was meeting with the baby-killer Öcalan, and after the baby-killer Öcalan announced on October 15 that a new phase had been entered and steps would be taken, three of our soldiers were martyred while in civilian clothes on October 21, 2014."
"IT IS BEING HIDDEN FROM THE PUBLIC"
Recalling that on February 28, 2015, then-HDP deputies Pervin Buldan, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, and İdris Baluken, who were part of the Imralı delegation, met with Deputy Prime Minister Yalçın Akdoğan, Interior Minister Efkan Ala, and AKP Group Deputy Chairman Mahir Ünal at Dolmabahçe Palace, Poyraz stated that this chronology has been consistently hidden from the public.
Poyraz said, "The Dolmabahçe meetings took place after the October 6-7-8 events; when did the mass detentions happen? On September 25, 2020, that is, 6 years after the events. After all these events, the detention happened, two months later the case was filed, and 3.5 years later the verdict was issued."
Referring to the then-HDP members who were part of the Imralı delegation, he said, "What were you doing at Dolmabahçe with these three suspects? What were the Deputy Prime Minister, the Interior Minister, and the AKP Group Deputy Chairman doing at Dolmabahçe Palace with the main suspects of the October 6-7-8 events?"
Stating that the AKP's fundamental policy is to wash its hands of a situation and walk away, Poyraz alluded to the AKP's subcontracting relationship with FETÖ until recently and recalled the Ergenekon process.
Poyraz said, "The resolution process was carried out starting from 2012; even after the October 6-7-8 events, processes consistent with this were managed in Parliament and the administration, and now they have washed their hands of it and walked away. This is the AKP's fundamental policy."
Poyraz expressed that it would not be appropriate to make a legal interpretation regarding the verdict in the Kobani case without seeing the reasoned decision and the evidence.
STATEMENTS ON THE 'SOFTENING' PROCESS
Speaking about the softening process, Poyraz said, "I evaluate the softening not through leaders or politicians, but through comments emerging in the media and social media. I think this reflects the thoughts in the public's subconscious under the guise of softening debates, regarding the pressure politics exerts on the judiciary."
"IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCEPT"
Expressing that the trial was delayed, Poyraz said, "It is impossible to accept this atrocity, but they should have been tried back then; you cannot write an indictment and hold a trial 6 years later. There is no excuse for delaying this trial. There is no excuse other than washing one's hands and walking away."
Poyraz concluded his words by saying, "12 thousand judges and prosecutors walked around like lions and pashas after July 15. After October 6-7-8, the state's judge, prosecutor, police, and intelligence should have sat down, created a template for this, and informed the state. After October 6-7-8, the prime minister should not have met with the 'Wise People', and the MİT undersecretary should not have gone to Imralı."
TOUCHED UPON DERVİŞOĞLU'S STATEMENTS
When reminded of the statements made by Müsavat Dervişoğlu regarding normalization, Poyraz spoke as follows about Dervişoğlu's view on normalization, who said, "The statements made by our chairman are not statements in need of explanation. They are very clear words addressed to the right place":
"Normalization is not the visit of one or two chairmen or more than one chairman. Normalization is the functioning of the rule of law and the manifestation of justice in this country. Retirees are among the issues that societies are most sensitive about all over the world. While our retirees cannot give pocket money to their grandchildren, European retirees come to our country and vacation in 5-star hotels.
This is what Mr. Dervişoğlu means by normalization. Normalization is the absence of a problem called 'unappointed teachers' in 21st-century Turkey."
Speaking about the decision to hire only as many civil servants as retirees within the scope of austerity measures, Poyraz said, "What will happen to the young people graduating in the next 3 years? The government's conscience does not ache at all, but as the opposition, on which issues should we remain silent? Is the basic duty of the opposition not to act as the public's advocate against the government and to tell the truth?
Millions of retirees are trying to live on 10 thousand liras. You are telling retirees to live on the price of four tanks of gasoline," he said.
Poyraz also touched upon the issue of unappointed teachers, recalling that nearly 20 thousand village schools have closed in the last 20 years.
Continuing his words, Poyraz said, "An absurdity called 'bussing education' was introduced, villages were emptied; the average age of those in agriculture is 61. Production cannot be done in villages because there is no school in the village. There is no point in the family staying there."
"THIS IS CALLED MAKING THE ABNORMAL ACCEPTABLE"
Continuing his words on the normalization debates, Poyraz said, "The meeting of two chairmen is not normalization. What blood feud or hostility do we have? You will keep the environment tense for so long, you will accuse people of terrorism and membership in organizations. We have also walked these paths. One morning we were invited to the People's Alliance, one morning we woke up as terrorists.
In the austerity packages, who is being pursued decisively regarding tax debts? You are blocking the path of newly graduated children. How will the citizen retire based on age? If they retire, their salary will decrease.
This is not called normalization; it is called making the abnormal acceptable. Those who made us experience a harsh winter should not expect such a thing from the İYİ Party, as if it were spring, sun, or insects," he said.
"MR. PRESIDENT, DO YOU NOT KNOW THE PROBLEMS OF TURKEY?"
To the question, 'What would your response be if President Erdoğan makes an invitation offer?',
He replied, "We discuss the legislative proposals that come to the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey), and when we go on television programs, we explain Turkey's problems one by one. We do not have a personal problem; as a political party, we are trying to solve the nation's problems.
Of course, they can come to us; the party's doors are not closed. However, Mr. President, do you not know the problems of Turkey that you would discuss Turkey's problems at headquarters?"
COMMENTARY ON FEBRUARY 28 DECISIONS
With the Official Gazette signed by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a pardon was granted to the defendants of the February 28 Case. In this context, a pardon was granted to Çevik Bir, Fevzi Türkevi, Erol Özkasnak, and Çetin Doğan.
In his evaluation of this issue, Poyraz said, "All of the decisions are based on reports taken 1 year ago. It is a human tragedy that no decision has been taken for 1 year despite the reports given by the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) in 2023. All these reports are also forwarded to the Ministry of Justice. It is a tragedy that no action has been taken for 1 year."
