İYİ Party submits parliamentary question regarding Minister Uraloğlu's civil servant salary claim: 'You cannot just say whatever comes to mind'

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu claimed in an interview that civil servants were unable to receive their salaries for 10 days before his government took office. Following this statement, İYİ Party's Çömez submitted a parliamentary question to the assembly and stated that he is awaiting a response.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu attended the Provincial Coordination Board Meeting at the Tekirdağ Governor's Office. Following his visit to the Governor's Office, Uraloğlu also attended the AKP Tekirdağ Provincial Advisory Council Meeting held at the Yahya Kemal Beyatlı Cultural Center, where he made statements to members of the press.

Stating that there were no midwives or imams in villages during the first years of the AKP government, Uraloğlu claimed that there were periods before 2002 when civil servants could not receive their salaries for 10 days.

Uraloğlu continued his remarks as follows: "Let us go back with my brothers and sisters who know the 90s. I am one of you who comes from a background as a civil servant.

We know the times when we worried about whether our money would be deposited into the ATM the next day, and when salaries were not paid for a week or 10 days.

We have now even planned for 2023. Whatever we said, we accomplished it. We are planning for 2028, 2035, and 2055. Being a state is exactly what this is."

REACTION FROM İYİ PARTY'S ÇÖMEZ

Reacting to the statements made by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, İYİ Party MP Turhan Çömez made a statement on his social media account, saying that Uraloğlu has an obligation to prove these claims, and that they have submitted a parliamentary question to the assembly. He used the following expressions:

"We asked the Minister; we prepared a parliamentary question through the Assembly and asked...

We requested that figures be provided; you cannot just say whatever comes to mind. This nation will hold everyone accountable for every word spoken... Now I am submitting a parliamentary question to you, and we are waiting for your answer; we will share it with the nation as well.

Why could civil servants not receive their salaries, and for how long could they not receive them? We are waiting for your answer."
