Court of Cassation President Mehmet Akarca issued a congratulatory message for January 10 Working Journalists Day.

Akarca used the following expressions in his message:

"HAS BECOME MORE VALUABLE THAN EVER"

"Press organizations that carry out their duties with an understanding based on individual rights and freedoms are an indispensable element of a democratic society. At the same time, journalists providing public service have the responsibility to report news while considering media ethical rules and to inform the public through objective evaluations. In today's world, where the speed of information dissemination has increased to a point where it is hard to keep up, the understanding of accurate and honest journalism has become more valuable than ever.

With these thoughts, I sincerely congratulate our valuable members of the press, who work without regard for working hours, under all conditions, and with a sense of responsibility to enlighten the public, on 'January 10 Working Journalists Day'."
