The İYİ Party's failure to reach its goals on March 31 and former Chair Meral Akşener's meeting at the Presidential Palace with President and AKP Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have sparked controversy within the party.
İYİ Party Ankara MP Koray Aydın has been cited as one of the figures most uncomfortable with the processes unfolding within the party.
Following all these developments, speaking on the Gündem Özel program on TV100, journalist and former CHP MP Barış Yarkadaş claimed that Aydın would resign and move to the Democrat Party with 14 MPs.
Barış Yarkadaş stated the following:
''Koray Aydın's colleagues said, 'Mr. Koray has been holding very intensive consultations for a long time following the İYİ Party congress, and those meetings are continuing today.'
''HE WILL RESIGN AND ANNOUNCE HIS ROADMAP''
Koray Aydın will continue these meetings intensively until Wednesday. He will conclude these meetings on Wednesday evening. I have received information that he will resign from the İYİ Party and announce his roadmap on Thursday or Friday.
MÜSAVAT DERVİŞOĞLU IS INVOLVED
İYİ Party Chair Müsavat Dervişoğlu is making a great effort to prevent Koray Aydın's resignation.
Many former colleagues who have resigned from the İYİ Party, founded parties, or are in the process of preparing to found a party have sent invitations to Koray Aydın to act together. Koray Aydın will not take part in any of these formations.
''14 MPS WILL JOIN THE DEMOCRAT PARTY''
Koray Aydın and his circle have reached the conclusion that instead of founding a new party, it would be more appropriate to join forces with an existing party. The name of the party that Koray Aydın and his close circle want to join is the Democrat Party. There are very serious claims that 14 MPs will also move to the Democrat Party with Koray Aydın.''
