Journalist Özlem Gürses, who was detained in Ankara yesterday evening, was brought to Istanbul to provide her statement. Gürses, who was detained due to her remarks regarding the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) on her YouTube channel, remains in police custody.

Gürses's lawyer, Furkan Kamalak, stated in a post on his social media account that "she expresses that she is saddened by the slip of the tongue during the live broadcast."

Kamalak announced the following:

"I met with my client, journalist Özlem Gürses, at the Vatan Police Headquarters. Her statement will be taken tomorrow morning. She states that it is out of the question for her to equate the Turkish Armed Forces with any terrorist organization, and that she is saddened by the slip of the tongue during the live broadcast. Her morale is good. She conveys her thanks to everyone who supports her."

Journalist Barış Yarkadaş also shared information that Özlem Gürses was detained on the evening of December 20 at 19:30 and was taken to the Istanbul Police Department at 03:45 on December 21. Yarkadaş wrote, "Gürses's forced journey, which began by road from Ankara at 21:30 last night, lasted for hours. Gürses is currently waiting to give her statement. It is expected that Gürses's statement will be taken shortly and that she will be referred to the courthouse towards noon."
